Inferis - An old project revamped

As the clock slowly ticked away at time, Dusk found himself in an old stone room. The walls were dark, the ceiling low, the floor squeaky from the underground moisture. All in all, it wasn't the worst place he had found himself in throughout the last couple of days, but considering this was supposedly an upgrade, he expected better. The old wooden clock ticked away minutes, and then hours, since he had been sitting on the same cold, dark, damp stone brick bench flipping through the magazines that he had found under the bench. Although somehow dry, they were incredibly old, and the paper felt rough to his fingertips. Every time he shifted his weight on the bench the chains holding it would creak, which didn't help at all. And to top it off, there were muffled voices leaking from under the thick wooden door on the other side of the room, sometimes loud exclamations and sometimes so imperceptable you wouldn't know that the entire council was inside the magnificent bowl-shaped room. The voices got quiet again, but not for long. A female voice quickly rose in volume and in anger, shouting inexplicable words, and seconds later the heavy wooden door swung open from within with a bright vigor. The figure wore a thick opal dress, with a black weaved cloth over her shoulders. Her long brown hair up in curls and twists all coming together in a single point, matching her short yet sleek appearance. One glance in Dusk's direction, a single, short nod, and off she went. Curious to know what had just transpired, Dusk leaned out of his seat to watch her walk down the poorly lit corridor. She stopped, as if sensing him, and with a worried look on her face scanned over her shoulder through the open doorway she had just exited. Her gaze shifted to meet his, and with a single sigh and an almost imperceptible shake of her head, she turned around and walked down the hall, the shadows engulfing her completely.

A door slam brought him to his senses, making him jump. The bulky door was once again closed, its impenetrable look restored. Dusk glanced around the small, dungy room once again,
